01 · The scene
The Lapu-Lapu basketball scene
Lapu-Lapu sits on Mactan Island, a separate highly-urbanized city from Cebu City with its own basketball identity. The Hoops Dome has hosted PBA and EASL games, the Lapu-Lapu Basketball Association (LLBA) runs organized local play, and barangays like Basak, Gun-ob, and Pajo fill the calendar with summer cups. The Mactan Economic Zone (MEPZ) packs in over 200 locators whose factory teams field their own inter-firm leagues, and the resort corridor adds hospitality-sector squads. Plenty of these leagues still live in a Facebook group and a notebook.
